Overview
Talko provides video meetings with built-in scheduling. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. It covers the Talko website, the web app and the desktop app. Talko is currently in beta and operated by the Talko team — you can reach us any time at support@talko.contact.
The short version: we collect only what the product needs to work, we run no advertising, no analytics and no trackers, and we never sell your data.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your name, email address, username and timezone. If you sign up with a password, we store only a cryptographic hash of it — never the password itself. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google profile (name, email, picture).
- Email verification codes. Stored only as a cryptographic hash with a short expiry, never in plain text.
- Booking information. When someone books a time on a Talko booking page, we store the name, email address and timezone they enter so we can confirm the booking, send reminders and let them reschedule or cancel.
- Meeting information. Display names of meeting participants and which rooms they join, so meetings and waiting rooms can work.
- Support requests. The name, email and message you submit through the support form are sent to our support inbox by email. They are not stored in our database.
How we use your information
We use the data above solely to operate Talko:
- running your account, meetings and booking pages;
- sending transactional email — verification codes and booking confirmations, cancellations and reschedules;
- preventing bots and abuse on signup, login and support forms;
- responding when you contact support.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell or share it for marketing, and we run no behavioural analytics or tracking of any kind.
Cookies
Talko uses essential cookies only: an encrypted session cookie that keeps you signed in, and the cookies Cloudflare Turnstile needs for bot protection. There are no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies, which is why you won’t see a cookie banner.
Meetings and recordings
Meeting audio and video are transmitted in real time and are not stored — unless the host starts a recording. Recordings are stored with our storage provider and are accessible to the host who made them. Hosts are responsible for telling participants before recording and for complying with the consent laws that apply to them.
Service providers
Talko relies on a small number of infrastructure providers, each of which processes only what its role requires:
- Resend — delivers our transactional email (verification codes, booking emails, support requests).
- LiveKit — carries real-time meeting audio and video.
- Cloudflare — Turnstile bot protection (which receives your IP address when verifying you’re human) and storage for meeting recordings.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
Desktop app
The Talko desktop app periodically contacts our servers to check for updates. It sends no analytics or telemetry.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. To delete your account and its data, email us at support@talko.contact and we’ll take care of it. Booking data for meetings you hosted is removed together with your account.
Security
Passwords are stored only as cryptographic hashes, verification codes are never stored in plain text, and all traffic to Talko is encrypted in transit with TLS. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for storing as little sensitive data as possible.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Talko evolves — the date at the top of this page always reflects the latest version. Questions about privacy or your data? Email support@talko.contact.
